Hey, I'm Victor, you've probably seen me on Instagram.
I'm Chinese-Canadian, dad of two (soon to be three) and married to my biggest supporter for over a decade. I worked in finance before leaving to build my own thing, and these days I'm all about soft living and helping people take more agency over their lives.
I live in the Philippines and I'll be honest, life here is great for me, but it isn't for most people. This country has rich and poor and almost nothing in between. That's why so many leave, staying just doesn't pay.
For the ones who stay, it's 4:30am wake-ups to beat traffic, two to three hours each way in a jeepney, paycheque to paycheque even with a degree and a good work ethic. For the ones who leave, it's the OFW abroad sending money home while missing their kids' childhood.
Since the pandemic, remote work has become the first real alternative. A Filipino earning a Western salary from home doesn't have to choose between a career and their family. They are coming home!
So if you want to help the Philippines, hire someone here; that's the best way to grow the middle class. There are marketplaces, agencies, direct hires, plenty of ways to do it. I run Treantly and we do exactly this, connecting vetted Filipino professionals with businesses in the West for long-term remote roles.
If you know a business in the West that might be interested in hiring in the Philippines, please introduce them to us. We'd love to share what we've learned making outsourcing work for over 150 businesses.
Thank you for your support.
The people we work with.
I sat down with each of them myself. They are working remotely, from home, in the Philippines.
